There are two ghosts in the graveyard They are having tea for two Don’t interrupt them Or they might interrupt …Boo! It’s good to see you Joe And likewise Stephanie Would you like some extra sugar In that there cuppa tea Would you like lavender Or a homemade biscuit You’ve got a broken heart And maybe this could fix it Would you like honey Joe Or maybe camomile Oh that’s right Joe We won’t be going back to sleep For a while You make me nervous (he he he ) You make me lose my breath (ahha ahha ahha) Under the moonlight I can sense a restless frown And if you don’t mind me asking Joe Is something going down Ahhhhh Ahhhhhhh Ahhhh Ahhhhhhh Ahhhhh Ahhhhhhh Would you like Lavender Or a homemade biscuit You’ve got a broken heart And maybe this could fix it Would you like honey Joe Or maybe camomile Oh that’s right Joe We won’t be going back to sleep Would you like Lavender Or a homemade biscuit You’ve got a broken heart And maybe Maybe this could fix it Oohhh ahhh Oohh ahhhh

Can I trust the flowers They are only here for a Springtime Make sweet love to the bees And fall on leaves If they’re evergreen Soft September showers They only last For a brief time A spider pollen sneeze And slides down diamonds In the web (achoo) Blackbirds take their flight And make their way to the treetops Animals bunker down They can hear the raindrops Kiss their doorsteps Little possum walks outside She wants to know your question Don’t move an inch each side It’s in your best interest Not to frighten them away Blackbirds take their flight And make their way to the treetops Animals bunker down They can hear the raindrops Hit their doorsteps As the storm blows in As the storm blows in As the storm blows in Can I trust the flowers As the storm blows in Can I trust the flowers

There’s nothing there There’s nothing there There’s nothing There’s nothing there There’s nothing there I can’t feel What you’re feeling I can’t hear What you’re hearing now There’s nothing there If I feel What you’re feeling And I hear What you’re hearing now We could talk it over But there’s nothing There’s nothing there There’s nothing there There’s nothing there That I can see If I feel What you’re feeling And I hear All the way from the floor To the ceiling out the door But there’s nothing there That I can see There’s nothing There’s nothing there There’s nothing There’s nothing there There’s nothing there If I feel What you’re fearing But there’s nothing There’s nothing there That I can see

Maritz 00:40

about

The new solo offering by Jonnine takes its title from her mother’s maiden name – “the most haunted word I know”

The collection’s eight songs deploy an eclectic array of scavenged instruments: bass guitar, a broken Swiss metronome, an oddly tuned wooden stringed instrument, sparing use of recorder, Halloween charm bracelets and a homemade glockenspiel found at “an abandoned high school in the hills”

Released by DJ Sundae’s Idle Press imprint, Maritz captures a versatile artist at a widening crossroads. Night flights, torn up photos, psychic spiders spinning webs like talismans – the world of these songs is imagistic and unrequited, attuned to absences and afterlifes.
